Event Name: Individualist

Event Category: English Book Discussion Club

Last updated: 20 December 2025

Deadline: Open-ended (Potentially until 20 December 2030)

Introduction

Individualist is a weekly, in-person discussion group held at a café in the evening.

Although the event is framed as an “English Book discussion club,” participants do not need to be fluent in English or even read an English-language book.

Actually, one can speak Korean when they feel it difficult to express certain ideas, but at least during the first 30-40 minutes, they are encouraged to talk in English (after that, one can speak Korean if they want).

Participants are welcome to discuss any book they have recently read—whether in English, Korean, or any other language. They may also share reflections on religious texts (e.g., the Bible, Buddhist scriptures) if they wish.

Reading in advance is not required. Participants may instead talk about other sources of knowledge and inspiration, such as films, documentaries, or YouTube videos.
